Course Overview

Following attendance candidates will be able to record an ECG correctly and start to develop interpretation skills.

The course includes supervised practice in recording a 12 lead ECG.

Anatomy & physiology of the heart

Conduction system

Recording a 12 lead ECG

Practical session

The ‘normal’ ECG

Introduction to interpretation skills recognising

  • Ischaemia
  • Acute Myocardial Infarction

Course Aims and Outcomes

  • Understand relevant anatomy and physiology of the heart
  • Place ECG electrodes in the correct position
  • Recognise a ‘normal’ ECG
  • Have an understanding of some common abnormal ECG’s.
