Minor Surgery Course
Course leader is a senior plastic surgeon.
A very practical one-day workshop to prepare the participant following a period of supervised clinical practice (which candidates need to arrange with their employing authority) to gain competence.
Course Content
Anatomy and physiology of wound healing
Skin pathophysiology
Common skin lesions, sebaceous cysts and lipomas
Planning for surgery
Curretage, cautery and diathermy
Practical workshops in -
• Local anaesthetic technique
• Suturing technique
• Removal of sebaceous cysts
• Removal of lipomas
• Excision of in-growing toenail
Wound dressings
Legal and professional responsibilities
Places are limited to ensure attention for individual candidates in the practical sessions
