Minor Illness
Aimed at nurses working in Walk-In Centres, Urgent Care Centres, Minor Injury Units, Primary Care, General Practice, Schools and Accident & Emergency. The course will also appeal to pharmacists and allied professionals.
Following a period of supervised practice attendees on this three-day training programme will achieve a standard for safe practice in the management of patients with a minor illness. The course is delivered using M&K’s typical non-threatening way, by clinical experts who have up to date working knowledge and skills.
The training days are busy and informative.

Taking a clinical history; communication skills; record keeping

How to conduct a physical examination
Recognising common presentations
Upper respiratory tract colds & ‘flu, cough, sore throat, fever, nose bleeds
Eyes and ears
Skin infections, rashes, wounds, bites and stings, lesions, parasites, allergy
Head, neck and back, headache, head injury, pain, mouth and dental problems
Abdomen: pain, diarrhoea and vomiting, indigestion, constipation
Gynaecology vaginal discharge, pain, menstrual problems, contraception
Mental Health: depression, anxiety, phobia
Post Course
Please identify a mentor in your workplace prior to attending, and establish an agreed programme of supervised practice with them following the course.
