The ECG Workshop

The authentic ECG Workshop attended by over 12,000 nurses and allied professionals since 1992.

Cardiac arrhythmia need quick, simple, effective assessment and management, founded on evidence based knowledge and practical assessment.

A two-day course of theoretical and practical workshops delivered by experienced cardiac professionals. This workshop addresses the needs of nurses, doctors and allied health professionals who encounter ECG monitoring and traces, whilst recognising the often chronic nature of these diseases, by building on a knowledge of pathophysiology, assessment, examination, treatment and care.

Course Content

Anatomy and physiology of the heart and conduction system
Recording a 12 lead ECG
The normal 12 lead ECG and cardiac axis
Atrial abnormalities
Ventricular abnormalities
Disorders of conduction
Ischaemia, infarction and the ECG
Rhythm recognition
Clinical case studies delivered by practising clinicians

Aims/Outcomes

  • Learn to interpret 12 lead ECGs & rhythm strips using a systematic approach
  • Understand cardiac axis and its impact on the ECG
  • Rhythm abnormalities, atrial, junctional and ventricular
  • Identify the effects on the ECG following infarction
